The College Pathway
The American college route is open to players from anywhere in the world.
For aspiring players and their families — wherever you are based — the college scholarship route is worth understanding. A full or partial scholarship to play soccer at an American university combines a high-quality education with serious football, and it's open to international players.
I've coached youth players in the United States, running programmes in Dallas and Florida, and I understand from the inside what American college coaches are actually looking for.
A particular opportunity
The women's game is a particular opportunity — American coaches are actively looking for strong female players, and there's less international competition for those places than on the men's side. Alessia Russo's story — on the Second Chance page — shows what this route can deliver.
For UK players who've been released from academies or overlooked by clubs, the college route can be a genuine second chance at the professional game.
If you're wondering whether this is worth pursuing, I'm happy to talk it through and give you a straight answer.
